Chinoiserie, an 18th century European style influenced by imported Chinese goods, is one of my favorite styles. Since I lived in Asia for 18 years, I learned to appreciate Asian art and history, and I find the meld of Western and Chinese influences in chinoiserie painting to be especially piquant. My vignettes, derived from a large mural I painted for a residence, are a combination of my own personal style and chinoiserie.
