Materials List.......Watercolor class....Every Tuesday night, from 6 to 8 pm, $125 for 6 units. CandP Coffee House (West Seattle (5612 California Avenue, SW 98136)
Hi people.....Don't be daunted by this list.  Most of the stuff you probably have already. I do hope you will bring what you have and we can take a look at it.  Of course, a decent large brush and a # 8 round are really important, and good rough or cold press block of 140 lb weight paper.  The tube paint from Daniel Smith (on 1st Street S....about a block south from Spokane street and on your left) is important because I want to show you how the paint granulates on rough or cold press paper.  And, Daniel Smith has sales all the time,   If you take this list to Daniel Smith, they will give you a 10% discount.

1. A pad of  Rough  or Cold Press Aquarelle Arches paper, 140 lb, 9x12" (called a watercolor block),paper. Dan Smith or Northwest Frames or Artist and Craftsmen off the freeway on 45th.
2.  One utility blade and a one inch roll of blue tape
3.   Dan Smith tube watercolors  (you can get them as you need .....italic ones are a must!)

4 BRUSHES...DECENT BRUSHES ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and, unfortunately, quite expensive. BUT, TREAT THEM RIGHT AND THEY©LL LAST YOU FOR YEARS.
    a. One Aquarelle 1 or 2 inch brush, one #4 round brush and one #8 round brush (either Daniel         Smith synthetic (cheaper) or Da Vinci sable (expensive) and one "rigger" brush for thin lines. A wide hake brush (cheaper) or a nice wide flat glazing  and wash brush (3") would be nice.

5 One lap sized "easel'...about 16 by 22".  Foam core or gator board is great...anything rigid and smooth.
6 Bring a light!!!!!! and extension/outlet strip!!
7 One water "spritzer" and  2 cottage cheese containers or deli dishes for water
8.  A white dinner plate is GREAT or the Daniel Smith butcher trays are EXCELLENT.
A muffin tin from Goodwill is great for washes and glazes.
9.  Paper towels or white rags (husband©s pitted out T-shirts are great).
10.  Jan Hart©s book, "The Watercolor Artist©s Guide to Exceptional Color" Daniel Smith or Amazon.
11.  A set of Watercolor heavyweight blank postcards....these are great for small studies.
12.  A ruler...plastic 18 inch is fine or even bigger.
13.  A brown watercolor(melts with a wash of water) pencil and a little portable sharpener.  White eraser.
