Blooming in the Rain

The Bloom Garden Tour on Bainbridge was an adventure in thunder and downpour.  I had to poke the booth awning every five minutes to sluice off the rain. Fortunately, because my friend Paula Gill (Redstep Studio, has a stout booth and helped me and Phil put it up properly (and take it down, dear creature), I prevailed in the wind and rain.  And, I ended up selling two big paintings and lots of prints!

And, it was fun.  Met lots of people, promoted my new Etsy shop,

and sold prints from the new children's line, and got great feedback.

I found that grownups like fairies just as much as children, so I am going to ramp up and turn out some more little winged fairies for my Etsy shop. The ones I have already got a lot of attention.

These two Midsummer Night's Dream spirits are details from a 16 foox 9' mural I painted for a client.  It is about the rising of the moon and a fairy procession.  Here's a larger detail.

I have to confess, I like the pixies as well and have had some experience with the little people when I lived in the Philippines. Can't help it. I'm Irish.

So watch for winged sprites in my repertoire.  I am itching to paint some more.

Here's another winged spirit I just turned out.

My mascot for my Etsy Store.  A nightingale singing his heart out on a pomegranete branch. I love painting on a fresco feeling to the images.  In fact, Livia's Garden, a gorgeous section of a fresco painting from the Empress Livia's summer home in Herculaneum, (Museo Nacional in Rome) has always been an inspiration to me.

And, best of all, my friends and hosts on the island greeted me at the end of each day with a beer, a directive to sit in their hot tub and later eat divine food.  Thanks, Paula, Bob and Mary, and Phil!
